Who am I?

Hello! I’m Petra, a 33-year-old native of Espoo, a social services professional, a mother, a wife, and a friend. I often have many things going on at once, I’m passionate about the things that matter to me, and I bravely pursue my dreams.

I hold a degree in Social Services (B.A./M.A.) and am currently studying to become a Master of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki while working. Throughout my career in the social sector, I’ve worked as a group home supervisor, school social worker, professional in domestic violence work, child protection supervisor, and most recently as a project manager in a child protection development project. I have always approached my work with passion and enthusiasm—and I’ve also sought to continuously develop my professional skills. In the workplace, I’ve received positive feedback for my reliability, authentic approach, and openness to development—values and expertise that I would bring to my role as a representative.

In my free time, my life is largely defined by family life and studies alongside work. I have two children: one in school and one in preschool, and I spend most of my free time with them, taking them to activities and enjoying family time. In the evenings, I enjoy relaxing on the couch watching TV. My personal hobbies include beginner figure skating and occasional gym visits and running. Time spent with family and friends is also very important to me.

The values that are important to me are equality, fairness, and justice. I believe that each of us has the right to live and be ourselves. And those in weaker positions should always be helped and supported. I live in a multicultural family, so valuing different cultures and diversity is also an important value for me.

I have always been interested in social discussions, and over the years, I’ve become increasingly interested in political debate and decision-making. I feel that many things could be better in today’s world, and I believe that everyone can try to influence matters within their own resources and capabilities. My political journey began a couple of years ago when I joined the Suur-Leppävaara branch of the Social Democrats, and I am currently serving my second term as a member of the executive board.

My strong desire to have a broader impact on the issues of my hometown, well-being area, and society has grown, and that is why I am now running in the 2025 Espoo municipal elections and Western Uusimaa regional elections. I hope to engage with people during my campaign in an open and accessible way to discuss the concerns and development needs in Espoo and Western Uusimaa. With a strong electoral result, I aim to influence the issues in our region and promote our well-being.

I am committed to working for well-being!

Best regards,
Petra
